Can I use a capacitor for my car audio system instead of upgrading my alternator? - alternative to a capacitor in car audio
I have a 1200W amplifier that my alternator is damaged. I've heard that a capacitor is a method of fixing. Are there other alternatives? What size capacitor is used (Farad)?

No A cap is only valid until the sound is trying to throw too much cabling. A cap does not provide more power, seeks to "hard" the voltage at the amp, nothing else. When power is not there is a limit of no help. The generator must be at least 20% more current in the entire vehicle and sound system for a ceiling on the benefits that have, ironically the same requirements connected to an amplifier, to be effective.
If the system of total output of 1000 watts RMS or more, you must:
1. Upgrade the alternator to a powerful generator
2. Upgrade to a heavy battery deep cycle
3. Upgrade the "Big 3" - to replace the power cable between the battery and alternator, the mass of the battery to the chassis and the engine belt to the floor / Tranny chassis with a minimum of 1 / 0 AWG.
Failure to do so leads to replace them anyway as the alternator will eventually fail.

If you go this route, and I can not at least 1.5 farads. For each 1000W, you need 1 farad.
My suggestion is to do what mentioned above. The result is much better.

No, not help, if the alternator is damaged, but you get a PAC to help, just try your alternator from your car to some of the stress dim when the light and the battery is exhausted, more often, could put an alternator that will help a little
